Our all-inclusive editing package is designed for children’s picture books up to 1,000 words. We bring every stage of editing together into one seamless service, so you don’t have to worry about gaps in the process. This package ensures your story is polished with clarity, rhythm, and professionalism—while preserving your unique voice and the playfulness that makes picture books magical. Our editors provide feedback on word choice, flow, and pacing, helping you craft a story that captures attention, reads aloud smoothly, and resonates with both children and adults.
Please note: We do not accept manuscripts containing explicit sexual content, excessive profanity, or LGBTQIA+ relationships or themes. This applies regardless of whether the characters are human or fantastical in nature—overtly sexual scenes are not within the scope of our editorial services. At Penrose Editorial, we support children’s content that nurtures joy, curiosity, and imagination without introducing sexual concepts prematurely. If you are uncertain whether your manuscript aligns with these guidelines, you are welcome to contact us for clarification before booking.
Manuscripts over the maximum word count are welcome—an additional $5 per 250 words will be added to cover the extended editing time.

Timeline
Every project is unique. Your timeline will be determined by your manuscript’s needs and your responsiveness throughout the process. We’ll keep you updated and on track so you know exactly what to expect.
Here’s an example of a typical chain of events:
STEP 1 — Schedule your FREE Clarity Call.
STEP 2 — Review your contract and ask questions.
STEP 3 — Sign your contract, pay your deposit, and schedule all services to secure your spot on our calendar.
STEP 4 — We’ll complete an in-depth Developmental Edit and send it back to you.
STEP 5 — Apply any changes you like and send your updated draft back to us.
STEP 6 — We’ll complete a Line Edit of your new draft and send it back to you.
STEP 7 — Apply any changes you like and send your updated draft back to us.
STEP 8 — We’ll Proofread your final draft and send it back to you.
Step 9 — Apply any changes you like, then send off your final draft to your formatter/typesetter.
Step 10 — Send us the formatted version of your final manuscript.
Step 11 — We’ll Design Proofread your formatted manuscript.
STEP 12 — Pay your balance, and we’ll send you the final polishing changes.
FINAL STEP — Apply any changes you like and PUBLISH YOUR BOOK!
